Pranayama
Vipassana

These are the two techniques that I practice persistently in meditation.

Pranayama translates literally as “vital energy control.” This is practiced by learning how to control the winds of subtle energy flowing within the body. The method to move the winds is to enter in and become them.

And where the life force energy flows, awareness follows.

Vipassana is another form of meditation that I practice together with pranayamas. Vipassana is practiced by first sharpening concentration and then using that blade of focus to persistently send waves of awareness throughout the body.

And where awareness flows, life force energy follows.

The higher purpose of both vipassana and pranayamas when practiced in the context of Raja or Kundalini Yoga, is to root out and eliminate samskaras hiding deep within the body, liberating the energy to flow freely.

And with liberated energy comes a liberated mind.
